“One Hundred Lessons on Monastery Languages and Affairs” offers a systematical presentation on topics such as monastic traditions, management system, temple affairs, administrative operation, Dharma instruments and spiritual cultivation. With questions raised by Fo Guang Shan’s elder - Venerable Tzu Hui and easy-to-understand answers provided by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, viewers will attain in-depth knowledge of Buddhist terminology, Buddhist doctrines and firm faith in the Dharma.
星雲大師簡介
星雲大師,一九二七年生,江蘇江都人,為臨濟宗第四十八代傳人。一九四九年初來台,一九五三年任宜蘭念佛會導師,奠定弘法事業基礎。一九六七年創建佛光山,致力推廣文化、教育、慈善等事業,先後在世界各地創設二百餘所寺院道場,在海內外設立十六所佛教學院,創辦美國西來大學、南華大學、佛光大學、澳洲南天大學、智光中學、普門中學、均頭中小學、均一中小學,及《人間福報》、人間衛視等。
一九九一年成立國際佛光會,現任國際佛光會世界總會總會長、世界佛教徒友誼會榮譽會長。著有《釋迦牟尼佛傳》、《星雲禪話》、《往事百語》、《六祖壇經講話》、《佛光菜根譚》、《佛光教科書》、《人間佛教論文集》、《迷悟之間》、《人間萬事》,以及《有情有義》、《佛光祈願文》有聲書等。
Born in 1927 in Jiangsu, China, Venerable Master Hsing Yun is the 48th generation of the Linji School. He came to Taiwan in 1949, founded the Ilan Buddhist Chanting Association in 1952, and established the foundation for Dharma propagation. In 1967, he founded Fo Guang Shan Monastery, promoting Humanistic Buddhism through Buddhist culture, education, and charity. Subsequently, he established more than 200 branch temples and 16 Buddhist Colleges in the world’s major cities; and also Pumen High School, Nanhua University, Fo Guang University, Unversity of the West in the United States, Nan Tian University in Australia, and Merit Times Daily News and Beautiful Life Television.
In 1991, Venerable Master founded Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA), and is now President of BLIA World Headquarters and Honorary President of World Fellowship of Buddhists. He is also author of the Bibiography of Sakyamuni Buddha, Hsing Yun’s Chan Talk, Hsing Yun’s Hundred Saying Series, The Rabbit's Horn: A Commentary on the Platform Sutra, Humble Table, Wise Fare, Fo Guang Textbooks, Between Ignorance and Enlightenment, Pearls of Wisdom: Prayers for Engaged Living, and so forth.
